CatCon 2017 Was PURR-FECT!

Thanks to all of you who attended the third annual CatCon®, presented by Rachael Ray™ Nutrish®. 15,000+ cat lovers came together for a weekend of feline frenzy at the Pasadena Convention Center on Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th. Over 150 cats and kittens were adopted in the 4,000 square foot adoption lounge created by Nutrish with adoptable cats and kittens provided by Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. And net proceeds from ticket sales benefitted the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, helping empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures. (Photo above: CatCon/Andrew Marttila)

This year also brought the first ever CatCon Awards presented by the maker of FRONTLINE® Gold. We recognized winners in five different categories, including Biggest Newcomer, which was won by Sir Thomas Trueheart of Milo’s Sanctuary.

Actor Ian Somerhalder presented the Advocate of the Year Award to Kitten Lady (Hannah Shaw), who has dedicated her life to helping neonatal kittens. Seminars like “They Put the Special in Special Needs” and “Men and Cats, a Love Story”, featuring actor Gilles Marini, Mike Bridavsky, and Lil BUB kept fans entertained and tugged our heart strings. Meanwhile, Meet & Greets with Nala and her sibs, Oskar the Blind Cat, Julie Newmar, Chris Poole of Cole and Marmalade, and Moshow the Cat Rapper gave attendees a chance to get up close and purr-sonal with their favorite celebs. Over 140 exhibitors showcased their cat-centric products, in the areas of art, furniture, clothing, accessories and design, for cats and their people.
